Stacking fault formation and Ag precipitation in Cu-Ag-Sc alloys

چکیده

We studied nucleation and growth of Ag precipitates in a Cu-6 wt%Ag-0.15 wt%Sc alloy found that the early was similar to continuous precipitation it occurred only on dislocations within Cu grains, not any grain boundaries. In aged samples, we observed stacking faults extended into nanotwins. These planar defects formed during surrounding matrix. The formation released misfit strain Cu/Ag interfaces, enhancing subsequent precipitates. Unlike intrinsic previous research, these were clearly extrinsic. provided row additional sites aligned along twin boundaries for new precipitates, by reducing dissolved matrix, increased conductivity significantly. Planar reduced electrical somewhat, but synergy between combined with had effect substantially increasing both hardness conductivity.

Clustering and Segregation of Mg and Ag Atoms during the Precipitation Processes in Al(-Li)-Cu-Mg-Ag Alloys

This paper reports three dimensional atom probe (3DAP) results of solute clusters and precipitates in early aging stages of Al-Cu(-Li) alloys containing small amounts of Ag and Mg atoms. In an as-quenched Al-1.9Cu-0.3Mg-0.2Ag (at.%) alloy, solute atoms are uniformly dissolved. On aging for 5 s at 180°C, Ag and Mg atoms form co-clusters. These co-clusters do not have well defined shape, but they...

Stacking-fault energies for Ag, Cu, and Ni from empirical tight-binding potentials

The intrinsic stacking-fault energies and free energies for Ag, Cu, and Ni are derived from molecular-dynamics simulations using the empirical tight-binding potentials of Cleri and Rosato [Phys. Rev. B 48, 22 (1993)]. While the results show significant deviations from experimental data, the general trend between the elements remains correct. This allows to use the potentials for qualitative com...

Thermodynamic and experimental study of Ti-Ag-Cu alloys

Phase equilibria in the ternary Ti-Ag-Cu system have been studied thermodynamically and experimentally at various temperatures. The thermodynamic analysis was performed by combining the most recent data on the binary Ag-Cu, Ti-Ag and Ti-Cu systems and experimental information obtained by the diffusion couple technique. The eutectic and three noneutectic binary Ag-Cu alloys were melted and annea...

Au-Ag-Cu nano-alloys: tailoring of permittivity

Precious metal alloys enables new possibilities to tailor materials for specific optical functions. Here we present a systematic study of the effects of a nanoscale alloying on the permittivity of Au-Ag-Cu metals at 38 different atomic mixing ratios. The permittivity was measured and analyzed numerically by applying the Drude model. X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed the face centered cubic latti...

Thermodynamic pro erties of metastable Ag-Cu alloys

The enthalpies of formation of metastable fee Ag-Cu solid solutions, produced by ball milling of elemental powders, were determined by differential scanning calorimetry. Experimental thermodynamic data for these metastable alloys and for the equilibrium phases are compared with both calculation of phase diagrams (CALPHAD) and atomistic simulation predictions. The atomistic simulations were perf...
